A relatively mild and dry 18 miles, largely on gravel following the Des Moines River and Highway 4, passed through a variety of properties managed by Palo Alto County Conservation Board / Lost Island Nature Center including Kearny Park (site of DAR a Dragoon Trail Marker).

20 miles in favorable weather started with the final crossing on the Des Moines River for the trip.

Eventually left the river and headed west toward parts unknown, later arriving at a state park named for a Northern Iowa Border Brigade fort.

Tomorrow the route heads north and west to ultimately end at Mini Wakan State Park on Big Spirit Lake in the Lake Okoboji - Iowa Great Lakes area after a brief crossing into Minnesota.

June 29, 2021: Notes on Iowa completed the trek across the state moving from Estherville, Iowa to the Lake Okoboji - Iowa Great Lakes area at Mini-Wakan State Park.

The total mileage for the 2021 walk across Iowa finished with 271 miles on the journey to follow the 1835 Iowa Dragoons Expedition.
