Actress Sharon Farrell: Iowa Time Machine December 24, 1940

Iowa Time Machine ⏰: On December 24, 1940, actress Sharon Farrell was born in Sioux City. A ballerina with the American Ballet Theater Company, Farrell grew to national fame while appearing in a variety of movies and television shows, including “Hawaii Five-0” and “The Young and the Restless.”

Born Sharon Lee Forsmoe on Christmas Eve of 1940, Farrell grew up on Douglas Street in Sioux City. As a child, she began practicing ballet in Woodbury County and participated in theater during high school at Sioux City Central. Leaving to join the American Ballet Theater Company, Ferrell soon found herself in show business where she created her stage name by combining her father's name Darrel, with "F" for Forsmoe.

Farrell made her acting debut shortly thereafter in the 1959 film “Kiss Her Goodbye.” Her success on the silver screen grew as Farrell appeared in “The Reivers” (1969), “Marlowe” (1969), “It's Alive” (1974), “The Stunt Man” (1980), “Out of the Blue” (1980), “Night of the Comet” (1984), and “Can't Buy Me Love” (1987).

While films kept Farrell busy, she also appeared on television, frequently in guest roles. Appearing on Gunsmoke, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., I Dream of Jeannie, My Favorite Martian, The Beverly Hillbillies, Harry O, and Hawaii Five-O helped further solidify her career. In 1991, she joined the cast of the long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless, remaining with the show until 1997. #Iowa #OTD #History #Film #Television
