Iowa Time Machine ⏰: On June 5, 1967, West Des Moines Valley and Iowa Hawkeye basketball standout Matt Bullard was born. A dominant big man for the Tigers, Bullard went on to a twelve-year career in the NBA.
Bullard balled out while playing at West Des Moines Valley. Averaging 22 points and 10 rebounds during his senior season, Bullard shot 62% from the field and 73% from the foul. The Valley standout headed west to Colorado where he put in 356 points and collected 179 rebounds for the Buffaloes. As a sophomore, Bullard continued to grow his game by averaging 16.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
Transferring to the University of Iowa and first appearing in the 1988-89 season, Bullard continued to shine on the hardwood. Bullard proved a solid contributor for the Hawkeyes and showed a shooting touch uncommon for his size. In his junior season, Bullard connected on nearly 40% of his shots from 3-point range.
Undrafted, Bullard went on to play for the Houston Rockets for nine seasons.
