Iowa Time Machine ⏰: On October 12, 2002, legendary Iowa State Quarterback Seneca Wallace scrambled for “The Run” against Texas Tech. One of the greatest moments in Iowa State football history, Wallace shone under center for the Cyclones before finding success in the NFL.

A standout letterman in football and basketball at Cordova High School in Rancho Cordova, California, Wallace took his talents to Sacramento City College to stay close to family. Only receiving three offers during junior college, two of which wanted Wallace to move to wide receiver, the quarterback arrived in Ames to play the final two years of his college career.

In 2002, Wallace etched his name in Cyclone lore in a game against Texas Tech. “The Run” saw Wallace scramble from the 12-yard line backwards as far as the 32 while avoiding defenders before ultimately scoring a touchdown. Estimates suggest Wallace ran 135 yards to score the 12-yard touchdown. Over his career at Iowa State, Wallace threw 26 touchdowns over two seasons.

Selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft, Wallace continued to prove he belonged under center. Over a 10-year NFL career with Seattle, Cleveland, and Green Bay, Wallace threw for 31 touchdowns and 4,947 yards. #IowaOTD #IowaHistoryDaily #IowaHistoryCalendar
