Iowa Time Machine ⏰: On May 28, 1986, two-time WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins was born in Davenport. Also a two-time WWE Champion, six-time WWE Raw Tag Team Champion, and two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion, Rollins continues to build a dominant legacy in wrestling entertainment.

Born Colby Daniel Lopez, the future WWE superstar spent his childhood on Iowa’s eastern border. A 2004 Davenport West High School graduate, Lopez embraced the straight edge lifestyle and frequented the local hardcore and heavy metal music scene. He also started wrestling on the Iowa independent circuit under the name Gixx before joining Ian Rotten’s Independent Wrestling Association Mid-South.

Success soon followed as Lopez worked through the IWA, NWA Midwest, TNA, FIP, and PWG wrestling circuits. Eventually, Lopez started wrestling under the name Tyler Black and gained national prominence while competing in Ring of Honor. After capturing the Ring of Honor World Championship and the Tag Team Championship, Lopez signed with WWE and started wrestling under the name Seth Rollins.

After a stint in the FCW developmental ranks, Rollins arrived as a part of The Shield alongside Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. Rollins and Reigns soon after captured the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship. Rollins' success continued as he rose to the status of a five-time world champion in WWE, having won the WWE Championship twice, the Universal Championship twice, and the World Heavyweight Championship once. He also gained the Intercontinental Championship and the United States Championship twice, making him WWE's 29th Triple Crown Champion and 19th Grand Slam Champion and the second wrestler to accomplish the latter twice under the revised 2015 format. #IowaOTD #IowaHistoryDaily #IowaHistoryCalendar
