The Plan - Part I - First Fort Des Moines (Montrose) to Lake Red Rock (Pella)

Part I of this journey is scheduled to take place in May 2021. During the month I will start at the site of First Fort Des Moines (near Montrose), and strike west to meet the Des Moines River near Shimek State Forest. Once on the river, I will ascend to the Red Rock Dam near Pella. Along the way I plan to make stops in Farmington, Bentonsport, Eldon, Ottumwa, and Eddyville. I will also explore nearby historic sites.
